Embedded Software Test Engineer – Telematics & eCall
Procom is seeking an Embedded Software Test Engineer – Telematics & eCall to support the validation of next-generation connected vehicle and emergency communication technologies.
This role focuses on testing and validating Emergency Calling (eCall) services that connect vehicles with emergency responders during critical situations. The successful candidate will work on both legacy EU eCall and Next-Generation (NG) eCall systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, reliability, and seamless communication performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with backgrounds in telecommunications, wireless technologies, embedded systems, or automotive connectivity testing. Candidates with strong wireless networking fundamentals and a passion for troubleshooting complex systems are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute functional, regression, and sanity testing for EU eCall and NG eCall systems
- Validate emergency audio communication paths and telematics functionality
- Perform Pull Request (PR) build testing to support continuous integration activities
- Configure and maintain embedded test benches and ECU environments
- Collect and analyze modem logs, network traces, and system logs to support defect analysis
- Troubleshoot issues related to cellular communication, telematics, and embedded software behavior
- Manage defects and test execution activities within Jira and related test management systems
- Collaborate with Cellular, Audio, Connectivity, and Embedded Software teams in Agile development environments
- Improve test coverage, automation, and testing efficiency
- Support compliance with global emergency communication standards and requirements
Required Skills & Experience
Experienced Candidates
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Telecommunications or cellular testing
- LTE / 5G / IMS / VoLTE technologies
- Embedded systems or automotive telematics testing
Junior / Entry-Level Candidates
- Strong academic background in:
- Wireless communications
- Telecommunications
- Networking
- Embedded systems
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and strong self-learning mindset
Core Technical Requirements
- Experience with:
- Functional testing
- Regression testing
- Sanity testing
- Familiarity with embedded operating systems such as:
- Linux
- QNX
- Android
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Domain Knowledge
- Knowledge of:
- EU eCall standards (EN 16072, EN 16062)
- NG eCall protocols
- 3GPP specifications and Layer 3 call processing
Tools & Technologies
- Experience using:
- Wireshark
- QXDM
- Spirent
- Rohde & Schwarz tools
- Keysight network simulators
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail
- Basic Python or Shell scripting for automation or log analysis
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
