Mainframe Application Developer:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Mainframe Application Developer for a 3-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

Mainframe Application Developer - Job Description:
The Mainframe Application Developer will drive the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications aligned with business objectives and technology strategy. The role involves ensuring code and system configurations meet security, performance, and resiliency standards while delivering reliable, defect-free solutions.

Mainframe Application Developer - Responsibilities:
• Designs, develops, tests, and implements mainframe applications aligned with business and technology requirements.
• Translates business needs into detailed technical specifications and high-quality code.
• Ensures solutions meet enterprise standards for security, performance, and operational excellence.
• Analyzes system impacts across upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Supports production stability through root cause analysis and timely issue resolution.
• Evaluates and recommends improvements to technology, processes, and system efficiency.
• Builds scalable, maintainable, and reusable solutions aligned with enterprise objectives.

Mainframe Application Developer - Mandatory Skills:
• 3–5 years of mainframe development experience or equivalent education.
• Strong experience with COBOL, CICS, PL/1, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Familiarity with EASYTRIEVE and FOCUS.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, z/OS, and ServiceNow.
• Strong knowledge of software development practices, architecture, and enterprise ecosystems.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.

Mainframe Application Developer – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Exposure to AI technologies and mainframe modernization.
• Experience working with CSF Designer.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
• Data-driven decision making.
• Ability to work independently on complex initiatives.

Mainframe Application Developer – Assignment Length:
This is a 3-month short-term contract with a strong possibility of conversion to a full-time position within 2-3 months.

ASAP.

Mainframe Application Developer - Assignment Location:
Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with hybrid work arrangements requiring 2 days in the office.
