Job Type: Contract — 12 months
Location: Remote, East Coast hours required (~8/9 AM–5 PM ET). Maryland preferred. Some travel to Maryland is expected during the contract.
Work Authorization: US Citizens only. Fingerprint background screening required.

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an AI Solutions Architect / AI Engineering Advisor to design and guide the implementation of Generative AI and advanced analytics solutions on AWS, in support of a technology transformation and modernization contract with the State of Maryland. The role works closely with business and technical stakeholders to identify use cases, define architectures, and drive adoption of AI-powered solutions.
  Responsibilities

• Design and implement Generative AI architectures using Amazon Bedrock and AWS AI services
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and knowledge management solutions
• Advise stakeholders on AI strategy, governance, and best practices
• Evaluate and recommend foundation models and AI tooling
• Collaborate with development teams to deploy scalable AI applications
• Support AI security, compliance, and responsible AI initiatives
• Create technical documentation and executive presentations
• Lead architecture workshops and discovery sessions
• Work with business and technical stakeholders at the State of Maryland to identify use cases and drive adoption

Mandatory Skills

• 5+ years of cloud architecture, AI/ML, or software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, foundation models, and Generative AI
• Understanding of RAG architectures, embeddings, and vector databases
• Strong AWS architecture and consulting experience
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — must be able to present to and advise executive-level audiences
• Strong written documentation skills (both technical docs and executive presentations)
• AWS Solutions Architect certification desired

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Additional AWS professional certifications preferred
• Experience with AI governance, compliance, and responsible AI frameworks
• Executive presentation and architecture workshop facilitation experience
