Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for an Application Software Specialist.
This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (onsite when required + remote).
Role Overview:
This role supports the development and enhancement of modern, high-performance web applications within the banking domain. The specialist will work closely with product, UX, and backend teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-focused UI solutions. The position focuses on building responsive applications using ReactJS and TypeScript, ensuring optimal performance and seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using ReactJS and TypeScript.
- Build reusable and maintainable UI components while enforcing front-end best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Optimize UI performance to handle complex workflows and large data volumes efficiently.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and release processes to ensure quality and reliability.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills:
- 5+ years of responsive UI/front-end development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with ReactJS.
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript.
- Experience with real-time systems.
- Experience developing desktop applications with ReactJS using frameworks like Electron.js.
- Demonstrated experience in the banking domain.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with AG Grid and implementing server-side grids/server-driven data tables.
- Experience working with large datasets in UI applications.
- Exposure to AMPS messaging platform.
- Familiarity with FDC3 standards and protocols.
- Experience building real-time systems.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven ability to deliver scalable and reliable UI solutions in a complex banking environment.
- Experience collaborating effectively with product, UX, and backend teams.
- Strong understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with flexibility for onsite presence as required.
