Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for an Associate Supplier Manager. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (1 day in office per week with additional in-office days during training).
Role Overview:
The Associate Supplier Manager will support a new portfolio of supplier-managed business to handle increased front-office volume. The role involves overseeing vendor negotiations, contract execution, and ongoing relationship management. It ensures strong governance through risk mitigation, compliance, and change management while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to optimize partnership outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide input to vendor management policy and procedures.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in vendor arrangements and business processes.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues escalated by end-users or management.
- Support management and implementation of documentation, process controls, and knowledge assets.
- Coordinate budgets and reporting to track actual results versus budget.
- Prepare financial reconciliations and attestation certificates as required.
- Monitor and track supplier performance and address any issues.
- Develop solutions and provide recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Support vendor program management ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and standards.
- Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
Must-Have Skills:
- 2-4 years of relevant experience or recent completion of relevant postsecondary education.
- In-depth knowledge and experience supporting vendor programs.
- Technical proficiency through education and/or business experience.
- Strong presentation skills.
- In-depth verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration and team skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Influence skills.
- Data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Relevant postsecondary education.
- Previous financial institution experience, especially with BMO.
- Experience with Coupa.
- Familiarity with Copilot or other AI tools.
- Intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working within a large vendor management team structure.
- Ability to work independently on complex tasks and unique situations.
- Strong judgment in risk management aligned with organizational frameworks and policies.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
