Automation QA Test Engineer – API:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for an Automation QA Test Engineer – API for a 4 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office. 

Automation QA Test Engineer – API - Job Description:
This role involves working on a modernization project within the Client Engineering - Mobile and Web business group. The focus is on test automation and AI initiatives to enhance the current platform. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in API automation and AI-assisted testing to the team.

Automation QA Test Engineer – API - Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks using Java or Python.
• Build automated tests for RESTful APIs, SOAP services, and complex data formats (JSON, XML).
• Validate functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability of enterprise banking applications.
• Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
• Identify, debug, and resolve defects, contributing to system stability, security, and performance.
• Maintain source code repositories and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding and quality standards.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for automation frameworks and testing processes.

Automation QA Test Engineer – API - Mandatory Skills:
• 5 to 7 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of recent hands-on experience in API automation, preferably using Java, RestAssured, TestNG / Cucumber.
• Deep understanding of microservices and distributed systems testing.
• Experience with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and modern SDLC practices.
• Exposure to contract testing and service integrations.
• Experience applying AI-assisted testing and quality analytics.
• Experience with Locust Performance testing tool.

Automation QA Test Engineer – API – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or Azure or AWS).
• Awareness of Web automation (Playwright) and Mobile automation (Appium with Python).
• Previous experience with Top 5 banks or FI.

Automation QA Test Engineer – API – Assignment Length:
This is a contract position from 07/01/2026 to 10/31/2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
