Business Analyst II (Smart Metering):
On behalf of our Energy client, Procom is searching for a Business Analyst II (Smart Metering) for a long-term role. This position is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at our client’s Houston, Texas office.
Job Description:
CenterPoint Energy seeks two Business Analysts to support a large-scale, multi-year Smart Meter modernization program. These individuals will play a critical role in improving operational efficiency through the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to smart meter installations, repairs, maintenance activities, and field operations.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze data related to smart meter installations, repairs, maintenance activities, and field operations.
• Review work order and operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support operational decision-making.
• Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across smart meter deployment and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with field operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to improve workflows and standardize processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis on operational issues and provide actionable recommendations.
• Analyze real-time smart meter data to identify performance anomalies and potential system issues.
• Assist in determining whether identified issues originate from network communications, software systems, or physical meter equipment.
• Present findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Mandatory Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Knowledge of business operations, performance measurement, and process improvement methodologies.
• Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets to support operational decision-making.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, Power BI, SAP, or similar reporting and analytics tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience supporting Smart Meter, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), utility, energy, or field operations environments.
• Experience working with operational data, work management systems, and asset management processes.
• Familiarity with reporting, dashboard development, and business intelligence tools.
• Knowledge of gas, electric, or utility operations is a plus.
Assignment Length:
This is a long-term contract position expected to last 5–7 years.
