Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for an IT Business Analyst. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per week).

Role Overview:

This role supports BMO’s Global Markets, specifically the global repo trading desks. The Business Analyst will provide day-to-day operational support, manage inquiries across multiple trading and risk groups, and participate in process enhancements and system rollouts. The position plays a key role in ensuring smooth trading operations and integration with external vendors and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support for BMO’s global repo trading desks.
  • Respond efficiently to inquiries from Front/Middle Office, Trade Desk Support, Back Office, Risk, Collateral Management, Accounting/Settlement, and other groups.
  • Participate in delivery of small-to-medium size process enhancements based on business priorities.
  • Support rollout of new vendor functionality including testing, validation, coordination, and production deployment.
  • Develop strong partnerships with key business stakeholders and technology contacts.
  • Act as an expert on integration aspects of Repo systems and collaborate with external teams to resolve issues.
  • Resolve issues with Repo trading system vendors and external contacts such as trading venues, clearing houses, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in system upgrades and infrastructure/security patching, ensuring applications are validated and business-ready post changes.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 2-3 years of experience working with Repo trading systems in a sell-side organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Repo trading including trade execution, lifecycle events, inventory and collateral management, settlements, electronic and tri-party trading.
  • Experience with outright bond trading and interest rate derivatives is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Bondfire, Broadridge FinPro/Impact/SFCM, Bloomberg TOMS, FIS BondOne, Calypso, Anvil, Apex.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience building productivity tools or applications using Python and Excel/VBA.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate with multiple external stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting system rollouts and upgrades in a trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of integration points between trading systems and external market data, settlement, and collateral management systems.

Qualifications

Experience building productivity tools or applications using Python and Excel/VBA.: 0 - 5 years (Desired)
Repo trading systems in a sell-side organization.: 2 - 3 years (Required)
