Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a DevOps Specialist - Expert.
This is an remote contract role in Toronto (5 days in office per week).
Role Overview:
The DevOps Specialist - Expert will design, develop, and implement software solutions while ensuring adherence to security, logging, error handling, and performance standards. This role supports the integration and automation of development and deployment processes, evaluates new technologies for system fit, and collaborates with business and technology stakeholders to deliver effective solutions that meet business and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceive and write detailed software implementations and code aligned with security and performance standards.
- Evaluate new technologies for compatibility and impact on existing systems and processes.
- Support research and development of development frameworks and define technical standards.
- Lead and implement initiatives to achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define, analyze, and deliver requirements.
- Assess costs and benefits of different solutions and recommend appropriate designs.
- Design solutions, perform unit testing, develop documentation, and facilitate final delivery.
Must-Have Skills:
- Experience as an Integration Engineer across various stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proficiency in Shell Scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, YAML, and JSON.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux server platforms.
- Deep understanding of middleware technologies including WebSphere, HAProxy, IBM HTTP Server, and Oracle.
- Familiarity with programming languages and ability to code with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of technical and business environments, processes, and deployment practices.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with automation frameworks and industry-standard tools beyond core scripting languages.
- Basic database technology knowledge.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a B.S. or B.A. degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or business.
- Has 8-10 years of relevant experience in DevOps or integration engineering roles.
- Demonstrates ability to stay current with industry technical and business trends through professional development.
