Job Description

The Cenovus Front Line Supervisor (FLS), Earthworks provides leadership, scheduling, ensures the safety and productivity of crews at the worksite who assemble/operate various pieces of oilfield equipment to execute survey, clearing and lease construction operations. As a key participant in the relationship with the contractor, other contractors, Cenovus Calgary staff and field operations, the FLS is the first level of frontline manager, and has a further role as a Cenovus representative, with key stakeholder communications (e.g. landowners and Regulators). The FLS reports to the Project Manager in Calgary.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·       Ensuring new and/or inexperienced workers are oriented to the job

·       Ensuring contractor and workers have appropriate orientations

·       Reviewing job execution plans with the contractors and ensure all Cenovus expectations are met prior to work commencing

·       Reviewing safety, productivity and work standards as outlined in the Execution Plan

·       Communicating deficiencies with contractor foreman

·       Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues/problems that may be barriers for the contractor

·       Applying applicable Cenovus work practices and worksite policies; including conflict of interest and information management    policies

·       Provide feedback for continuous improvement opportunities

·       Supporting contractor with technical or safety information

·       Issuing non-conformance reports for equipment or personnel that do not meet contract and/or execution terms

·       Identifying and/or verifying that the project is operationally sound and that field conditions have not changed

·       Identifying needs and deficiencies in the work plan/schedule and communicating these to the appropriate persons

·       Working with the crew(s) to overcome day to day work challenges

·       Identifying, verifying and reporting any scheduling conflicts with contractor and/or stakeholders

·       Overseeing the execution of the work to ensure it meets CVE specs and follows Job Execution Plan, including quality and productivity, recording and reporting

·       Inspecting completed work to ensure specifications are met and deficiencies are recorded and communicated

·       Obtaining photographs/videos during surveying, construction and clean up

·       Maintaining daily logs of activities, including safety meetings

·       Daily performance reports

·       Inputting daily SiteView reports including ticket/LEM verification and signoff/data entry

·       Detailed reporting for estimating

·       Obtaining appropriate permits

·       Verifying crew times, services rendered, including late starts/early quits

·       Completing required information or data and reporting to appropriate persons

·       Completing additional tasks at the request of the Project Manager

·       Participating in daily safety meetings with the Contractors

·       Intervening in all unsafe work practices and stopping the job

·       Conducting heavy equipment inspections, spot checks, audits and verifying Contractor Health and Safety Program Requirements are being met

·       Participating in the CVE competency assurance program

·       Alignment with the Well Delivery health and safety programs, CVE policies and procedures and fit for duty.

Qualifications

·       Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

·       Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and proper vehicle and liability insurance

·       Civil Construction experience preferred in relation to survey, scouting, estimating, scheduling, construction in various ground conditions, borrow pit management, logging

·       Must have good knowledge of Alberta regulations, codes and standards of practice related to the Oil & Gas industry

·       Knowledge of logging and construction equipment as it relates to winter work in the boreal forest eco-region

·       Planning, scheduling and time management

·       Ability to lead teams of people on work crews and communicate clear messaging at all safety and review meetings

·       Computer proficiency and ability to use Microsoft products, knowledge of SiteView is preferred

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team

·       Previous experience in oilfield construction, in boreal forest eco-regions, as foreman, lead operator and/or as supervisor for multiple large crews exceeding 25 people

Qualifications

Civil Earthworks experience: 10 - 15 years (Required)
