Contract Professional Job Details:
We are seeking an experienced construction contract professional to join our Major Projects team and support the administration and commercial management of a portfolio of complex capital construction projects.
Working as an integral member of multidisciplinary project teams, the Senior Construction Contract Specialist will provide contractual and commercial expertise throughout project execution. The role will administer major construction contracts, manage changes and emerging commercial issues, assess contractor submissions and claims, and develop clear, evidence-based recommendations to support project decision-making.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands construction, can interpret complex contracts, and is comfortable working through significant commercial issues where the facts, contractual requirements, schedule and cost impacts may not initially be clear.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, Procurement and Legal to ensure contracts are administered effectively, contractual rights are preserved, commercial risks are identified early, and significant issues are supported by sound analysis and commercial judgment.
Contract Professional Mandatory Skills
- Typically 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction contract administration, commercial management, claims, quantity surveying, project controls, or another relevant major-project discipline.
- Demonstrated experience administering construction contracts and resolving contractual and commercial issues during project execution.
- Strong ability to interpret complex construction contracts and apply contractual requirements to actual project circumstances.
- Experience reviewing or preparing construction changes, claims, contractual notices, commercial correspondence, or other significant contractor submissions.
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling and critical-path concepts sufficient to understand and critically evaluate schedule information associated with changes and contractual issues.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, concise, and defensible contractual correspondence, assessments, and recommendations.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and commercial judgment.
- Ability to work independently on complex contractual matters while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
