Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Data and Reporting Analyst. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (3 days in office per week).

Role Overview:

This role supports the Procurement Analytics team by managing day-to-day data operations and request handling. The position involves executing routine data workflows, including Excel tasks and automated Python scripts, to curate and refresh datasets. The role also contributes to data governance efforts and supports documentation, process improvements, and ad-hoc analysis to enhance data management and reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute recurring data workflows, including running Python scripts and maintaining Excel-based processes to refresh and curate datasets
  • Monitor and manage the team’s shared inbox, triaging and responding to incoming requests in a timely manner
  • Fulfill operational data requests such as dashboard setup, data refreshes, and ad-hoc data pulls
  • Perform data validation and quality checks, troubleshooting issues and escalating where appropriate
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of process documentation and user guides
  • Assist in the creation of process manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with the Data Governance team to support data management practices
  • Track and manage assigned tasks to ensure completion within defined timelines and schedules
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Procurement Analytics function
  • Provide general operational support as needed; perform other duties as assigned

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python (Pandas), with hands-on experience executing, modifying, and maintaining queries and data processing scripts
  • Experience using Git (version control) for managing code changes and collaboration
  • Proficiency in Excel for data manipulation, validation, and operational workflows
  • Ability to troubleshoot data issues and identify root causes within defined processes
  • Experience managing multiple incoming requests and priorities effectively
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for engaging with technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to follow structured processes while identifying opportunities for incremental improvements

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Hands-on experience leveraging Microsoft 365 low-code platforms (Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint forms and lists) to design and implement event-driven workflows, approvals, and process tracking

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in data and reporting analytics
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Technology, Computing, Data & Analytics, Business, or Engineering
  • Willingness to learn and contribute across data analytics and data governance functions
  • High attention to detail when working with large, complex datasets

Qualifications

SQL and Python (Pandas): 5 - 5 years (Required)
