On behalf of our client, Procom is searching for a Data Architect for a remote role. This position requires work to be done within Canada.

Data Architect - Job Description:
The client is modernizing its regulatory and environmental assurance systems through the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS). We are seeking a Data Architect to lead data integration efforts between DRAS, a Databricks-based Data Management Platform, and the Alberta Geospatial Platform. The role involves designing data flows and governance strategies to ensure reliable and timely data access for stakeholders.

Data Architect - Responsibilities:
• Define and maintain the target-state data architecture for DRAS integration.
• Design data models for regulatory, environmental, and geospatial data.
• Establish integration patterns and design lakehouse structures on Databricks.
• Lead the design of data pipelines and resolve complex integration issues.
• Embed data governance practices and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Serve as a data architecture advisor and mentor team members.

Data Architect - Mandatory Skills:
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data integration.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark, and Unity Catalog.
• Strong experience with data modeling and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience integrating with geospatial platforms.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Architect – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
• Experience with enterprise architecture database plans in large IT environments.
• Experience using architecture modeling tools like PowerDesigner or ER Studio.
• Experience with cloud computing or big data platforms and infrastructure.
• Prior experience with the Government of Alberta is a strong asset.
