Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a Front End Software Developer, to support the UI team on a commodities order management platform.
This is a remote contract role.
Role Overview
This role sits on the UI team building a new commodities order management system from the ground up. The platform covers order input and order lifecycle management, and is targeting go live next year. The developer will own front end delivery in React and contribute to the supporting back end services where needed. Candidates based in the New York metro area are preferred, as occasional onsite support may be required around go live.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain React components for the commodities order management platform
- Develop order input and order lifecycle management screens
- Translate product requirements into working front end functionality ahead of go live
- Contribute to back end services that support the user interface
- Collaborate with product partners on UI design and workflow decisions
- Work alongside a small, fully remote engineering team
Must-Have Skills
- Hands on production development in React
- JavaScript
- TypeScript
- Front end application development on a product or platform build
Nice to Have Skills
- Full stack development capability across front end and back end
- Java back end development
- Financial services, capital markets or commodities experience
- Experience with order management systems, trading platforms or similar transactional systems
Ideal Candidate
- Has delivered front end work on a greenfield or net new build rather than maintaining an established codebase
- Brings exposure to trading or capital markets workflows and understands how order data moves through a system
- Can move between the user interface and the services behind it without waiting on a separate back end team
- Based in or near the New York metro area
