Intermediate Developer
On behalf of our client, Procom is currently seeking an Intermediate Developer.

Intermediate Developer Job Details:

The Intermediate Developer will help maintain and support ICBC Digital's suite of Enterprise Content Management (a.k.a. Customer Communication Management) applications. 

A typical day in this role involves coding and testing on both packaged and custom software solutions, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, guiding and mentoring more junior technical team members, and ensuring improvements in reliability performance and security of the Digital services. 

The ideal candidate will be self-organized, ambitious, self-motivated, and have good communication skills. 

• Troubleshoot and restore services in response to production outages and incidents. Ensure issues are investigated and resolved in a timely basis, pulling in other appropriate people or teams when needed, and that root causes are addressed and fixed. 

• Investigate, triage, and resolve support incidents, engaging with neighbouring teams and system owners where necessary. 

• Support integration changes, validation, testing, and deployment for projects and platform upgrades whose scope affect our ECM systems. 

• Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, support procedures, and knowledge articles. 

• Help perform system configuration changes, e.g. EngageOne form updates or Enrichment scripting updates. 

• Work with vendor support teams and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot product issues and implement software patches or upgrades. 
 

Intermediate Developer Mandatory Skills:

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java. Proficiency in C#/.NET and Python and React are also an asset. 

• 3+ years of experience and high level of confidence with SQL, and design and manipulation of databases including PostGRES, Oracle, SQL Server and equivalents. 

• Experience designing, developing, consuming, and troubleshooting REST and SOAP APIs. 

Some specific Java skills or experience that would be particularly helpful: 

. Java EE / Jakarta EE 

. SOAP Web Services (JAX-WS, WSDL, XSD) 

. Web application development (Servlets, JSP/JSTL) 

. IBM WebSphere Liberty / Open Liberty 

. Apache Ant build scripting 

. XML technologies (XSD, XSLT, JAXB) 

. Enterprise application packaging - EAR/WAR/JAR structure, application.xml, 

deployment descriptors 

• Comfort in both Windows and Unix environments is an asset. 

• Experience with common middleware and integration technologies such as OpenShift, Control-M, API management middleware (particularly IBM API Connect). Experience in integration best practices with web services, queueing and messaging services, and batch integrations. 

• Knowledge of Dev-Ops methodology, tools, and practices. 

• Experience in operating services both on premise and in cloud, Infrastructure as Code, Jenkins, CI/CD, GitLab and GitHub. Experience with common monitoring platforms including Splunk and Dynatrace. 

• Knowledge and understanding of design thinking, lean, or operational excellence methodology is an asset. 

• Knowledge and experience with Enterprise Content Management / Customer Communication Management applications would be a tremendous advantage, particularly Tungsten/Kofax, Precisely/EngageOne, or OpenText, with experience in other related platforms like SmartComm also being beneficial. 

• The portfolio is broad and diverse, so the candidate should be a quick learner and have a flexible mindset.
