Job Description

Intermediate Hardware Technologist:
On behalf of our Defense industry client, Procom is searching for an Intermediate Hardware Technologist for a 12 month contract role. This position is onsite at our client’s North Vancouver, British Columbia office.

Intermediate Hardware Technologist - Job Description:
The Intermediate Hardware Technologist is responsible for supporting Systems Engineering in the development of Thales projects, which primarily focus on communication and control systems. These projects involve RF, digital, network, and analog subsystems. The role involves ensuring project work adheres to budget and schedule, managing risks, and maintaining quality of deliveries.

Intermediate Hardware Technologist - Responsibilities:
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company practices and procedures.
• Ensure all work is completed according to the project’s integrated master schedule.
• Maintain control of integration tools, test equipment, and work area.
• Assist in preparation of electrical and mechanical drawings as required.
• Read engineering documents, schematics, and technical orders to determine faults and methods of troubleshooting.
• Implement and execute system test cases; analyze and evaluate test results.
• Troubleshoot systems that do not meet requirements.
• Identify installation risks and prepare mitigation strategies.
• Inspect parts for defects.
• Interact with customer technical and non-technical personnel (military and/or civilian).
• Work in a team environment and independently.

Intermediate Hardware Technologist - Mandatory Skills:
• English essential.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a systems engineering environment, ideally in the Naval or Shipbuilding industry.
• Good level of oral and written communication skills required for report writing.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical drawings, and technical documents.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, integration, configuration, testing, cabling, network, and electronics systems.
• Experience in the use of common electrical test equipment, including DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.
• Experience in the use of common hand and electrical tools.

Intermediate Hardware Technologist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience in electronics systems, RF, networking systems including testing with specialized test equipment.
• Knowledge of Canadian requirements for shock and vibration, EMC/EMI, drawing standards, and industry design standards.
• Experience with varied operating systems and technical software such as Labview.

Intermediate Hardware Technologist – Assignment Length:
This is a 12 month contract position.
