IT Project Manager (Contract)

Location: Ottawa, hybrid. 2 days onsite, moving to 4 days onsite in February
Duration: 1 year contract
Security: Eligibility for Enhanced Reliability clearance required (existing clearance is an added bonus)
Reports to: Director, IT Business Partner (ITBP)

Role Overview

The IT Project Manager plans and executes IT initiatives within time, budget, and scope constraints. The role works closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver projects aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. It requires strong leadership and communication skills and a solid grounding in IT project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects end to end, from discovery through delivery, implementation, stabilization, and handoff with third-party partners, including plans, schedules, budgets, quality, communications, resources, and risk
• Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effectiveness
• Identify and assess risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies
• Engage stakeholders to understand requirements, manage expectations, and report progress
• Work with the product owner to shape the opportunity pipeline and anticipate business needs
• Build strong relationships with third-party partners and the business
• Follow best practices and procedural documentation across the project management process
• Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and digital best practices between IT and the business
• Act as liaison between external technology providers and the business, safeguarding CPC business interests

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience leading customer-focused IT initiatives from conception to completion
• 3+ years managing highly complex technology initiatives
• Proven track record managing IT initiatives in an Agile environment
• Strong understanding of IT systems, SDLC, and PDLC
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
• Direct experience working with business stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
• Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams
• Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management in IT projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing relationships across technology, operations, and business teams
• Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools
• PMP certification (PMI) is required

Assets

• Experience managing distributed Agile teams
• Experience with scaled Agile delivery
• Agile certifications: CSM, PMI-ACP, PSM, or SAFe Agilist (SA)
