IT Project Manager - Senior

BMO is currently sourcing for an IT Project Manager.

This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per week).

Role Overview:

The IT Project Manager will support technology projects within the North American and Commercial Banking (NACB) Technology PMO team, specifically focusing on Online Business Banking (OBB). This role involves managing fast-paced, multiple implementations with monthly deliverables, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful project delivery through a hybrid Agile/Waterfall approach. The position has a significant business impact by driving critical enterprise platform projects that support commercial banking technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end project delivery, ensuring scope, time, cost, and quality commitments are met.
• Coordinate and direct multiple technology teams and stakeholders across the bank to deliver project components.
• Drive change management and communications planning in collaboration with Communications stakeholders.
• Oversee governance controls to ensure compliance with performance, quality, and methodology standards.
• Anticipate and manage project escalations proactively to minimize risks.
• Facilitate sprint planning and quick delivery cycles in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain clear and effective communication across cross-functional teams and business units.

Must-Have Skills:

• 8+ years of project management experience.
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall hybrid project methodologies.
• Strong technology project management background (not a Scrum Master role).
• Ability to work with multiple technical teams and manage complex project components.
• Valid PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
• Experience in managing projects within a banking or financial services environment preferred.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with Jira and Confluence tools.
• Educational background in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Previous experience in banking technology projects.

• Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate issues before they arise.
• Has reliable instincts and can navigate complex, fast-moving project environments.
• Experienced in collaborating cross-functionally with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Comfortable managing multiple simultaneous implementations with quick delivery timelines.
