Java Developer Lead:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Java Developer Lead for a 12-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto, Ontario office.

Java Developer Lead - Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Java Development Lead to manage the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade microservices. The role involves leading a team to work on Oracle SQL-driven business logic and leveraging Spring Boot technology to enhance current systems.

Java Developer Lead - Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Java Spring Boot microservices deployed on Apache Tomcat
• Write, optimize, and review complex Oracle SQL queries that drive core business logic
• Own technical design discussions and drive architecture decisions across microservices
• Enforce code quality standards through GitHub Pull Request reviews and development best practices
• Mentor and guide junior and intermediate developers on Java/Spring Boot standards and patterns
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, QA, and infrastructure across the full development lifecycle
• Manage end-to-end software development lifecycle from design to deployment and post-release maintenance

Java Developer Lead - Mandatory Skills:
• 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience
• Minimum 3+ years with Spring Boot microservices in a production environment
• Demonstrated Oracle SQL expertise with a strong focus on query design and performance tuning
• Proven dev lead experience including task breakdown, sprint planning, team guidance, and stakeholder communication
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
• Technical writing and documentation for architecture decisions and runbooks

Java Developer Lead – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Cloud platform knowledge (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with AI orchestration platforms, agent frameworks, or multi-model architectures
• Banking/Financial Industry experience
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments, managed services, or containerized environments
• Experience leading code reviews, technical discussions, and delivery planning

Java Developer Lead – Assignment Length:
This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days in the office, specifically on Monday and Tuesday.
