On behalf of our technology client, Procom is searching for a Java Developer - Senior for a 12-month contract. This position is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at our client’s Austin, Texas, Westlake, TX or Denver, CO office.

Java Developer - Senior - Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate high-throughput, low-latency, mission-critical platforms. This role focuses on Java-based API development and cloud-native deployments. The project involves developing secure APIs using modern access management protocols and leveraging AI-assisted software development tools.

Java Developer - Senior - Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java services supporting REST-based APIs.
• Build cloud-native, horizontally scalable services deployed on GCP or other public cloud platforms.
• Develop and secure APIs using OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SAML-based authentication and authorization flows.
• Implement API-first designs with strong contract discipline, backward compatibility, and understandability.
• Build and operate highly resilient systems with strict SLAs for latency, throughput, and availability.
• Use CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
• Actively use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate feature development and improve code quality.
• Partner with platform, security, SRE, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Java Developer - Senior - Mandatory Skills:
• 6+ years of strong Java expertise with experience building production-grade services.
• Hands-on API development experience, including RESTful services and API security.
• Cloud deployment experience on GCP or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Solid experience with Access Management protocols: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML2.0.
• Proven experience building and operating high-criticality systems with strict SLAs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience with observability (metrics, logs, traces) and production troubleshooting.

Java Developer - Senior – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Knowledge of modern deployment strategies like blue/green and canary deployments.
• Familiarity with resilience patterns such as timeouts, retries, and circuit breakers.
• Strong Security Subject Matter Expertise.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

This is a 12 month contract with possible extension/conversion
