Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL for a 4 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL - Job Description:
The Mainframe Developer will support the Deposits Savings Enhancement project, focusing on ongoing enhancements, maintenance, and modernization of core banking systems. This role involves ensuring stability, performance, and compliance of high-volume, high-availability host applications through strong COBOL/JCL expertise.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL - Responsibilities:
• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL and JCL programs within host/mainframe environments.
• Work with DB2, IMS, ACF, and Endevor to support secure and stable application delivery.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and iterative development cycles.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
• Collaborate with peers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to ensure high quality releases.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL - Mandatory Skills:
• 10+ years of hands-on IBM mainframe application development experience.
• 5+ years supporting mission-critical applications within Tier 1 Canadian Financial Institutions.
• Expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS DB, VSAM, JCL, IBM MQ, and z/OS.
• Experience with Customer information (CIS), Credit Card, VISA Debit Card, ABM/ATM, OR Payments.
• Experience integrating Mainframe applications with distributed platforms.
• Experience performing system design, coding, unit testing, integration testing, and production support.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience supporting large-scale conversion, merger, migration, or platform modernization initiatives.
• Experience with mainframe productivity, debugging, scheduling, and change management tools.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams supporting high-volume banking applications.
• Previous Scotiabank experience in a Mainframe development role.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL – Assignment Length:
The contract duration is from August 3, 2026, to October 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

ASAP.

Mainframe Developer - COBOL/JCL - Assignment Location:
Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in the office, specifically on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
