Job Description

On behalf of our Technology client, Procom is searching for a Network Architect for a 3 month contract role with with likelihood of conversion to perm. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Richmond office.

Network Architect - Job Description:
Our client is undergoing a leadership transition and infrastructure consolidation across multiple merged entities, necessitating a stable network architecture. This role involves managing Cisco networking infrastructure and leading a team while being hands-on in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Network Architect - Responsibilities:
• Own network architecture and strategy during a period of leadership transition and organizational change
• Lead and mentor staff covering network responsibilities, while remaining personally hands-on
• Troubleshoot complex, unresolved network and Wi-Fi issues
• Evaluate aging network equipment and apply field-tested judgment
• Assess network implications of merging infrastructure across entities
• Evaluate vendor and partner recommendations, identifying weak solutions
• Design and implement scalable, resilient network and wireless architecture
• Collaborate with M365/Azure and infrastructure teams where network design intersects with cloud platforms

Network Architect - Mandatory Skills:
• Proven experience as a network architect at enterprise scale
• Subject matter expert in Cisco networking, with relevant Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP or CCIE)
• Deep hands-on expertise across the Cisco stack — switching, routing, wireless, and firewall/security
• Real managerial or team-lead experience
• Strong wireless/Wi-Fi troubleshooting expertise
• Proven ability to root-cause difficult network issues
• Strong communication skills

Network Architect – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience supporting organizations through infrastructure consolidation or M&A-driven change
• Experience evaluating and modernizing aging Cisco network infrastructure
• Experience working alongside offshore teams or external partners
• Ability to explain technical root causes to non-technical leadership
• Familiarity with M365/Azure environments
