On-Site Hardware Technician - Vancouver BC:
On behalf of our Communications and Control Systems client, Procom is searching for an On-Site Hardware Technician for a permanent role. This position is onsite at our client’s North Vancouver, BC office.
On-Site Hardware Technician - Job Description:
The On-Site Hardware Technician is responsible for supporting Systems Engineering in delivering and supporting client projects, focusing on communication and control systems that include RF, digital, network, and analog subsystems. The technician will ensure that projects adhere to budget, schedule, risk management, and quality standards while participating in installation support, integration, troubleshooting, and validation of subsystems.
On-Site Hardware Technician - Responsibilities:
• Ensure all work is carried-out in accordance with company practices and procedures.
• Complete all work according to the Project’s integrated master schedule.
• Maintain control of integration tools, test equipment, and work area.
• Assist in red-lining drawings (electrical and mechanical) as required.
• Read engineering documents, schematics, and technical orders to troubleshoot.
• Implement and execute system test cases, analyzing and evaluating test results.
• Troubleshoot systems that do not meet requirements.
• Identify installation risks and prepare mitigation strategies.
• Inspect parts for defects.
• Interact with customer technical and non-technical personnel.
• Work in a team environment and independently.
On-Site Hardware Technician - Mandatory Skills:
• English essential (verbal and written).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a systems engineering environment, ideally in Naval or Shipbuilding.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical drawings, and technical documents.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, integration, configuration, testing, cabling, network, and electronics systems.
• Experience in using common electrical test equipment, including DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.
• Experience in using common hand and electrical tools.
• Good oral and written communication skills required for report writing.
On-Site Hardware Technician – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience working in shipyards or onboard ships.
• Familiarity with RF systems.
• Knowledge of risk management strategies.
• Experience with military communication systems.
• Understanding of quality control processes.
On-Site Hardware Technician – Assignment Length:
12 month contract, high potential for extension or permanent conversion
