Paralegal / Litigation Specialist:
On behalf of our Automotive client, Procom is searching for a Paralegal / Litigation Specialist for a 6 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at our client’s Markham office.

Paralegal / Litigation Specialist - Job Description:
The Litigation Specialist will provide legal representation for small claims actions and Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP) proceedings against our client’s Canadian businesses. The role involves managing the defense of litigation and arbitration from inception to conclusion, including legal drafting, negotiation, and attending hearings and trials.

Paralegal / Litigation Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Review small claims or CAMVAP documentation and determine appropriate course of action
• Draft court and arbitration documents
• Communicate and negotiate with plaintiffs and/or plaintiffs’ counsel
• Prepare for trial and arbitration, including strategy, document gathering, and witness preparation
• Represent Honda at small claims settlement conferences, motions, and trials
• Represent Honda at CAMVAP arbitration hearings
• Administer and manage legal document management file systems
• Develop and sustain effective and collaborative professional working relationships within the Legal department and with business customers
• Provide advice to the Customer Relations team in support of risk management pre-litigation
• Monitor developments in the law to determine impact on company and identify opportunities

Paralegal / Litigation Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
• Law Clerk diploma, Paralegal license, or other relevant accreditation preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house environment
• Valid driver’s license required
• Litigation experience, particularly in relation to product liability and warranty disputes
• Strong organizational/project management skills
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills, negotiation skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Paralegal / Litigation Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Bilingual in French
• Experience in the automotive industry
• Flexible and adapts to change well
• Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of integrity
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and strategically identify risk

Paralegal / Litigation Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is a 6 month position.

Markham, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid position with 4 days in office.
