Patient Access Specialist:
On behalf of our healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Patient Access Specialist for a 6-month role. This position is fully onsite at our client’s Chicago office.
Patient Access Specialist - Job Description:
The Patient Access Specialist will be responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience by managing patient scheduling and registration. This role involves interacting with various departments to facilitate patient flow and maintain high standards of customer service.
Patient Access Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Consistently practice Patients First philosophy and adhere to high standards of customer service.
• Respond to questions and concerns, forwarding extraordinary issues to Team Lead or Operations Coordinator.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to establish a positive first impression of Northwestern Medicine.
• Correctly identify and collect patient demographic information.
• Interact with hospital departments and physicians' offices to effectively schedule and direct patients.
• Reach out to patients to schedule appointments as defined.
• Perform medical necessity checks and communicate options if appointment fails.
• Inform patients of any issues with securing the financial account for their encounter.
• Complete out-of-pocket estimations as requested by patients.
• Provide training and education as needed.
• Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
• Participate in Quality Assurance reviews to ensure integrity of patient data information.
• Use effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns.
• Adhere to all department policies and compliance requirements.
Patient Access Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Ability to type 40 wpm.
Patient Access Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Authorization submissions/insurance experience.
• Scheduling experience.
• Additional education.
• Additional language skills.
• Healthcare finance and/or healthcare insurance experience.
Patient Access Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position.
