Patient Access Specialist:
On behalf of our Healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Patient Access Specialist for a contract role. This position is an onsite position at our client’s Palos Heights, Illinois office.
Patient Access Specialist - Job Description:
The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience by managing the patient access process efficiently. This role involves direct patient interaction, data entry, and collaboration with various hospital departments to maintain high standards of customer service and patient confidentiality.
Patient Access Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Consistently practice Patients First philosophy and adhere to high standards of customer service.
• Respond to questions and concerns, forwarding issues to Team Lead or Operations Coordinator as necessary.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, establishing a positive first impression.
• Correctly identify and collect patient demographic information.
• Interact with various hospital departments and physicians in a patient/customer-friendly manner.
• Schedule appointments and perform medical necessity checks.
• Inform patients of issues with securing financial accounts for their encounters.
• Complete out-of-pocket estimations and provide training and education as needed.
• Participate in Quality Assurance reviews and use effective service recovery skills.
• Follow department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Communicate information regarding physician referrals, insurance, and consultations.
• Demonstrate teamwork and communicate effectively with others.
• Utilize multiple online order retrieval systems and verify insurance eligibility.
• Proactively prevent issues with patient visits and suggest improvements for customer service and operational efficiency.
Patient Access Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2.3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic computer skills and ability to type 40 wpm.
• Customer service oriented.
Patient Access Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with Epic or similar healthcare systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
• Ability to adapt to changing healthcare policies.
Patient Access Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is acontract position.
