Patient Access Specialist:
On behalf of our Healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Patient Access Specialist for a temporary role. This position is onsite at our client’s Palos Heights, Illinois office.

Patient Access Specialist - Job Description:
The Patient Access Specialist will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient patient registration process, maintaining high standards of customer service, and protecting patient confidentiality. This role involves interacting with various departments and using multiple online systems to verify insurance and schedule appointments, contributing to a positive first impression of Northwestern Medicine.

Patient Access Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Consistently practice Patients First philosophy and adhere to high standards of customer service.
• Respond to questions and concerns and notify Team Lead or Operations Coordinator of extraordinary issues.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service to establish a positive first impression.
• Correctly identify and collect patient demographic information.
• Interact with hospital departments and physicians in a patient-friendly manner.
• Schedule appointments and perform medical necessity checks as necessary.
• Inform patients of issues with securing the financial account for their encounter.
• Complete out-of-pocket estimations as requested by patients.
• Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
• Participate in Quality Assurance reviews to ensure integrity of patient data information.
• Utilize department and hospital policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
• Communicate information to patients regarding referrals and consultations.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefit levels using online tools.
• Run real-time eligibility (RTE) on all patients to verify insurance.
• Proactively prevent issues with patient visits by verifying information.

Patient Access Specialist - Mandatory Skills:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2.3 years customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Ability to type 40 wpm.

Patient Access Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with Epic or similar healthcare systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
• Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
• Training or mentorship experience.

Patient Access Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is a 3 month contract position.
