Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Power BI Analyst.
This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per week).

Role Overview:
The Power BI Analyst will serve as the primary resource for reporting and analytics across workforce, vendor, and financial performance domains. The role involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing Power BI dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights that support decision-making at all organizational levels. This position ensures data integrity, reporting consistency, and alignment with business objectives while collaborating closely with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models supporting KPI and QPR reporting.
  • Analyze and deconstruct existing Power BI solutions to identify opportunities for optimization and improved user experience.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and enhance Power Automate workflows to streamline reporting and operational processes.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Lead stakeholder discussions, providing recommendations and managing expectations on scope and timelines.
  • Monitor report performance, data quality, and refresh processes to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Support intake, prioritization, and delivery of reporting enhancements and new requests.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 1+ years of experience supporting executive-level reporting and KPI dashboards.
  • Postsecondary education (field not specified).
  • Knowledge of data governance, reporting best practices, and business intelligence standards.
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, report design, and performance optimization.
  • Strong experience with Power Automate, workflow development, and process automation.
  • Ability to reverse engineer and improve existing reporting solutions and data flows.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder discussions and managing expectations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Financial services or enterprise-scale reporting experience.
  • Relevant postsecondary education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience managing projects and coordinating deliverables from requirements through implementation.
  • Ability to work independently within a small team while maintaining strong collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Proven capability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
