Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a Prime Business Trade Desk Support.
This is a hybrid contract role in New York (1 day in office per week).
Role Overview:
The Prime Business Trade Desk Support will provide day-to-day trade support primarily for the Cash Prime business within the Global Trade line of business. The role involves partnering with trading desks, clients, IT support, and operations to manage trade activity, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operational execution. This position supports new initiatives, testing, and system enhancements, contributing to the growth and efficiency of the trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate reflection of new trade bookings and amendments across trading platforms, including lifecycle events such as expiry, dividends, and corporate actions.
- Liaise with trading desks and bank stakeholders to ensure proper setup of new products and downstream data flows.
- Act as a first line of defense to implement controls that reduce operational risk and ensure compliance with the Approved Product List.
- Collaborate with IT and product development teams to automate transaction workflows and develop trade monitoring tools.
- Participate in system migration and enhancement projects, including user acceptance testing and impact assessment on market risk and P&L.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to positions, trades, and payments proactively.
- Complete end-of-day processes, including reconciliation and completeness checks.
- Maintain and update procedure documentation to reflect current practices.
- Identify and escalate potential risks within Global Trade Support activities.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and internal policy requirements to mitigate risk.
- Contribute to contingency planning and maintain business continuity for critical processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and deliver consistent, accurate customer service.
- Support day-to-day team management by assisting in setting direction, defining accountabilities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of business-related experience in the financial services industry.
- University degree or college diploma in a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Cash Prime business operations.
- Experience with project work and testing, particularly onboarding trading platforms.
- Familiarity with Geneva and Bloomberg trading systems.
- Understanding of financial markets and regulatory oversight bodies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong investigative, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Analytical thinking and sound judgment in decision-making.
- Good organizational skills and adaptability to changing business environments.
- Understanding of business unit risk and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of internal business partners’ services and organizational structure.
- Familiarity with departmental systems and applications supporting financial products.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Technical skills related to automation or system development.
- Experience managing ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with VBA macros.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting multiple asset classes including equities, options, bonds, and US Treasury products.
- Exposure to regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks within capital markets.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to system migration and enhancement projects.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including IT, trading desks, and operations.
