Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Lending Transformation Project Manager. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (4 days in office per week).

Role Overview:

This role supports the delivery of strategic initiatives within the Commercial Lending business for the US and Canada. The Project Manager will provide expertise across multiple workstreams to drive key program objectives, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure successful execution of a portfolio of transformational projects. The position offers exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct large-scale, complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and matrix partners.
  • Define, plan, orchestrate, and deliver assigned strategic projects as the accountable project manager.
  • Manage all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring completion of related processes such as change management, process management, and system development.
  • Build and sustain day-to-day relationships and communications with stakeholders at various organizational levels, including executives.
  • Ensure project outcomes meet defined scope and deliver quantifiable business benefits.
  • Chair core team and governance forums including Steering Committees and Decision Forums to review project progress.
  • Develop and maintain project artifacts such as charters, integrated plans, resource plans, and contingency plans in compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule, and quality, providing recommendations and status reports to leadership.
  • Contribute to improving project management best practices within the enterprise to enhance consistency and execution excellence.

  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools such as Clarity, MS Project, SharePoint, and understanding of SDLC.

  • Knowledge of commercial lending and banking operations.
  • Experience delivering projects in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills aligned with business needs.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and execute effectively.
  • Self-starter with adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Collaboration skills across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic approach with confidence to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience managing large-scale transformation or change initiatives within financial services.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through project leadership.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment with a flexible, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

Relationship management and consulting skills: 5 - 8 years (Required)
Banking: 0 - 5 years (Desired)
