Python Test Automation Engineer. OTTAWA (MUST BE IN THE OTTAWA AREA)

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing, automation, or software development
• Strong Python programming experience with OOP, 4+ years
• 3+ years of experience with a Python based test framework such as Slash or Pytest
• Experience creating test cases and automated tests, including the ability to execute, analyze, and triage large automated test suites
• API level testing experience
• Experience using AI assisted development tools such as Microsoft Copilot
• 4+ years in IT overall, with 2+ years specifically in testing
• 4+ years of experience in development and object oriented design
• 4+ years of experience maintaining automated test execution and triaging results
• 2+ years of experience in automotive software functional testing
• 1+ year of experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Protobuf
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Master's degree in Embedded Systems
• Experience with Java, C++, and Groovy
• Experience with embedded system testing
• Experience with data analytics and visualization
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Detail oriented with strength in detecting and diagnosing software defects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a multi site team environment, self driven and self motivated
• Experience as an automation test developer in the automotive industry

The scope of work of the Contract includes, but is not limited to:

The  Python Test Automation Engineer professional will be expected to execute the following tasks during this contract, but not limited too:

• Drive testing of cloud connected software for CAN and Ethernet based vehicle modules in a fast paced Agile environment
• Translate complex requirements into robust test strategies that ensure system reliability
• Build scalable automated testing solutions and libraries using in house and open source technologies
• Oversee automated test suites and resolve issues arising from high volume test setups
• Identify and track software defects, ensuring resolutions meet production standards
• Support code quality through peer reviews and provide guidance to junior team members
