On behalf of our Biotechnology client, Procom is searching for a Research and Development Associate 1 for a 5 month contract role with ongoing extensions/conversion to perm.. This position is an onsite position at our client’s Durham, North Carolina office.

Research and Development Associate 1 - Job Description:
The Research and Development Associate 1 will participate in research and development activities by executing assigned laboratory tasks to support project delivery. The role involves performing wet-lab experiments using established scientific and basic quantitative techniques to generate, compile, and analyze data.

Research and Development Associate 1 - Responsibilities:
• Execute assigned laboratory tasks to support project delivery.
• Perform wet-lab experiments using established scientific techniques.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary scientists and across functions.
• Submit and track samples using the current data capture system.
• Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and traceability in line with SOPs.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and reports.
• Communicate results by summarizing and reporting data to the project team and functional lead.

Research and Development Associate 1 - Mandatory Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of host–pathogen interactions, plant science, or a related field.
• Strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry.
• Strong data quality mindset with attention to detail and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills, including summarizing, interpreting, and reporting data.
• Good time management skills.
• PhD degree required.

Research and Development Associate 1 – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with molecular analyses.
• Familiarity with data capture systems.
• Experience in a biotechnology or related industry.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork abilities.
