Job Description

The Opportunity:

*Please note this is a remote role open to candidates based in the U.S. or Canada.*

You will be responsible for the design, build, and ongoing operations of Flextrack's Salesforce and integration infrastructure that connects our VMS platform with client and partner systems.

This role blends engineering and operational ownership — ensuring that integrations are not only built well but also supported, monitored, and evolved with discipline and reliability.

You will establish and follow repeatable integration patterns based on existing best practices, maintain production and staging environments, and act as the operational backbone — ensuring our delivery is stable and scalable.

You will lead discovery and design conversations, set the technical approach across applicable technology/tooling in play, and own the integration architecture and roadmap those approaches are built on. Flextrack doesn't have anyone dedicated to this today — it's currently being driven part-time by Product Technology leadership alongside everything else on their plate.

Day-to-Day You Will:

Integration & Platform Build

  • Lead discovery and design sessions, translating business requirements into the technical approach for a workstream or project.
  • Set and own the integration patterns the rest of the team builds to — design new ones when an existing one doesn't fit, and decide when a one-off exception is warranted.
  • Extend and optimize existing frameworks to support new customer requirements and evolving product capabilities, across applicable technologies and tooling (eg. Azure, MuleSoft, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Configure and maintain integration endpoints, authentication, and data flows between Salesforce, Flextrack VMS, and external systems (e.g., Workday, ERP).
  • Build and support integrations and automation hosted in Azure (or comparable cloud platforms), ensuring secure connectivity, job scheduling, and environment reliability.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure integration designs align with security, scalability, and data governance standards.
  • Make platform and tooling selection decisions for the integration estate — the standards other engineers and technologists build against.

Production Operations & Support

  • Own the reliability and performance of Salesforce and integration environments across production and staging.
  • Monitor daily jobs, ETL workflows, and batch processes; respond to incidents with structured triage and root cause analysis.
  • Manage operational tasks such as job scheduling, exception handling, data validation, and controlled SFTP-based exchanges.
  • Lead hypercare and post-release support efforts, ensuring timely resolution and proactive prevention of repeat issues.
  • Define operational metrics, SLAs, and the automation roadmap for the integration function.
  • Own integration governance, change traceability, and release architecture standards.

Automation, Release, & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and manage automated deployment pipelines and environment synchronization across Salesforce and integration components.
  • Apply DevOps and release management best practices — version control, validation, rollback readiness, and change traceability.
  • Automate recurring operational activities such as monitoring, alerting, and reporting to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Drive continuous improvement in integration reliability and deployment consistency through process standardization and automation tooling.
  • Own how Flextrack's integration patterns, operational metrics, and automation roadmap evolve over time, in partnership with Product Technology leadership.

Team & Mentorship

  • Mentor integration engineers and technologists and set the standard for what good looks like in pattern design, build quality, and incident discipline.
  • Direct and review technical work across the integration estate, not just a single workstream.
  • Operate autonomously and proactively — identifying what the estate needs next rather than working only from an assigned queue.
  • Build the integration team's capability deliberately, including how Senior Integration Engineers develop the Technologists working under them.

Architecture & Platform Ownership

  • Own Flextrack's integration architecture and roadmap — the patterns, standards, and platform decisions every client interface is built on, across all clients and the product.
  • Track integration and cloud platform trends and turn them into concrete recommendations for Flextrack's roadmap.
  • Identify architectural and operational risk across the estate before it becomes an incident.
  • Define the blueprint for major platform initiatives, identify the tradeoffs between candidate approaches, and drive the pilot through to First Ship.
  • Partner with Product Technology leadership on roadmap, risk, and cost tradeoffs for the integration platform; be credible with client enterprise architects.

It would be amazing if you have:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong, hands-on experience managing and automating workloads in Azure (or comparable cloud-based integration environments).
  • 10+ years of overall experience administering, building, and supporting Salesforce and integration environments, including 5+ years in an architecture-level or platform-ownership role.
  • Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Dell Boomi, Informatica, and Azure-based integration services (Logic Apps, Data Factory, Functions, or equivalent).
  • Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and automated release processes for Salesforce or integration systems, not just supporting them.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT principles, data orchestration, and automation scripting for integration jobs.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python to support integration development and automation is an asset.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across data, integration, and application layers.
  • Experience managing production and staging environments, including deployment, rollback, and monitoring processes.
  • Familiarity with environment automation concepts and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, SOQL, and data reconciliation techniques.
  • Proven experience leading client-facing discovery or design sessions, not just executing from a spec someone else wrote.
  • Experience mentoring or leading other integration engineers and technologists, including developing Senior Integration Engineers.
  • Domain depth in ERP/HRIS integration (Workday or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ownership of an integration platform roadmap — the patterns, standards, and tooling decisions a team builds against.
  • A track record taking a platform initiative from blueprint through a pilot to production ("First Ship"), not just designing on paper.
  • Credibility partnering with leadership on roadmap, risk, and cost, and operating at the client enterprise-architect level.
  • Salesforce and/or Azure certifications are a plus.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience implementing or maintaining monitoring and alerting tools for integration and platform performance.
  • Background in DevOps, ITIL, or structured change management.
  • Background advising on vendor/tooling selection at a platform level.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development practices — including use of AI tooling (e.g., Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate integration design, spec generation, test scenario development, or documentation.
