Assignment Details
- Location: Onsite, Austin, TX — 4 days/week
- Duration: 3-month contract with possible extensions
- Pay: W2 only (C2C & sponsorship are unavailable)
The EMOST team is looking for an experienced Scrum Master who can lead multiple scrum teams at the same time. Ideal candidates must thrive in a fast-paced team environment and have a strong passion for technology and innovation. As a Scrum Master, you will work within a scrum team to enhance messaging applications and support business-critical internal integration projects. What You're Good At
- Execute on Scrum Master responsibilities: organizing and facilitating daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other meetings
- Influence team members to leverage, follow, and support agile software development practices
- Interface with the product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, QA, and Technology Operations to ensure high-quality delivery of software projects on time and on budget
- Track internal and external project dependencies
- Identify gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans
- Track and communicate team velocity, sprint/release progress, and maintain process documentation
- Provide accurate and succinct updates and escalations (with business impacts)
- Serve and support the team by removing impediments and partnering with Senior Managers and Project Managers
- Assist teams with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition; identify and remove impediments; prevent distractions that interfere with sprint goal delivery; facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
- Empower teams to self-organize; improve sprint team productivity; ensure each increment of functionality is potentially releasable
- Utilize scrum tools and frameworks to achieve efficiency both internally and externally
- Ensure coordination of individual team deliverables is synchronized as needed to achieve product releases
- Certified Scrum Master with 8+ years of Scrum Master experience (required)
- Rally experience is a plus
- Experience using the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and maintaining Scrum Boards, including feature breakdown to Epics, User Stories, Tasks, and Subtasks
- Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
- Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate
- Experience working with agile methodology on large-scale, technically complex projects
- Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle
- Highly adaptable to changing environments
- Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to coach teams to reach their highest potential
- Self-motivated, creative, and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
- Collaborative in driving decisions; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to hold team members accountable, set clear sprint performance standards, resolve sprint performance issues, and keep the team engaged and on task
- Experience working in the financial industry and awareness of basic financial concepts
- Experience taking business requirements and writing technical requirements using BDD
- Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills
- Self-starter, organized, able to work across multiple projects and handle multiple scrum teams simultaneously
