Senior Automation Developer, Software Testing

Ottawa Engineering Center | Hybrid, 4 days onsite per week | Contract

About the opportunity

Procom is looking for a Senior Automation Developer to join our client's software verification team in Ottawa. You'll be the one making sure the software running in next-generation vehicles actually works the way it's supposed to, designing, building, and running the automated tests that validate high profile products before they ever reach a customer. What you'll be doing

Understand product requirements and translate them into automated tests that validate production software. Design, develop, maintain, and execute test suites across multiple verification and validation scopes. Bring a solid understanding of vehicle network architecture and infotainment features into your test strategy. Lead or contribute to agile teams, working alongside internal design verification groups and external Tier I and Tier II suppliers. Help evolve the automation framework itself, thinking about scale, reliability, security, and performance, not just individual test cases.

What you bring

8+ years of advanced professional experience with software and requirements verification, building test suites and automation solutions across multiple verification, validation, and integration levels. 5+ years specifically implementing test and automation strategies and designing test approaches from the ground up. Deep, hands-on knowledge of Python and object oriented programming. Availability to work in office four days a week.

Even better if you bring

Experience with requirements engineering, electrical architecture, software architecture, or functional architecture. Comfort with software configuration management, source control, DevSecOps, and CI/CD, with an eye for improving them from a verification standpoint. Experience with software operations, reliability engineering, and observability. Exposure to multiple tech stacks including QNX and Android Automotive, and the ability to verify functionality across them. A track record leading agile teams. Experience with modern development practices like pair programming, test driven development, or behavior driven development.
