Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Senior AWS Resilience Consultant.
This is a hybrid contract role in Scarborough (2 days in office per week).

Role Overview:
The Senior AWS Resilience Consultant will lead the operationalization of AWS Next Generation Resilience Hub for the Bank’s Resiliency Engineering team. This role involves hands-on cloud engineering, solution architecture, product ownership, project delivery, and process definition to enhance cloud resilience. The position supports enterprise-wide resiliency practices and strategic initiatives, working closely with senior leadership and multiple cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and operationalize cloud resilience solutions leveraging AWS Resilience Hub and other AWS services.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery including solution design, development, testing, implementation, and production readiness.
  • Deploy services using AWS CDK to provision components, apply policies, and enforce least-privilege IAM.
  • Define operating models, processes, standards, and governance to support enterprise adoption of AWS Resilience Hub.
  • Establish resiliency policies, service modeling standards, assessment processes, reporting practices, and exception handling procedures.
  • Partner with Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, Architecture, Service Transition, and Resiliency Engineering teams to ensure seamless delivery and adoption.
  • Manage PDLC governance activities including design reviews, risk and security assessments, and Go-Live approvals.
  • Lead technical discussions in executive governance, architecture councils, and senior stakeholder forums.
  • Manage delivery planning, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and stakeholder communications.
  • Produce clear documentation such as process guides, operating procedures, stakeholder presentations, onboarding materials, and support documentation.
  • Conduct Proof-of-Concepts, analyze results, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Keep senior leadership informed of progress, risks, dependencies, and key decisions; proactively escalate blockers.
  • Champion continuous improvement and adoption of cloud-native resilience best practices across the enterprise.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, or Resiliency Engineering within a large enterprise.
  • Deep expertise in AWS services, cloud resilience patterns, and enterprise cloud operating models.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code delivery approaches.
  • Extensive experience in resilience engineering domains including High Availability, Observability, Disaster Recovery, Testing, and Posture Analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex, cross-functional cloud engineering initiatives end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise governance, PDLC frameworks, security/risk processes, and operational readiness.
  • Product ownership, project management, and process design skills.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and engineering workflow tools.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Resilience Hub is a strong asset.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework, cloud resilience assessments, operational readiness, and chaos engineering practices.
  • Experience creating executive presentations, process documentation, user guides, and operational support materials.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional “team of teams” environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Track record of driving strategic cloud resilience initiatives from concept through execution.

Qualifications

Cloud Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, or Resiliency Engineering within a large enterprise.: 10 - 10 years (Required)
