Senior Azure SQL DBA:
On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Senior Azure SQL DBA for a 6-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office. 

Senior Azure SQL DBA - Job Description:
The Expert DBA will manage and optimize the performance of large-scale Azure SQL databases in a high-demand enterprise banking environment. This role involves diagnosing and resolving complex database performance issues and supporting critical banking applications.

Senior Azure SQL DBA - Responsibilities:
• Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks
• Tune queries and address resource contention
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application-database interactions
• Conduct capacity planning and scaling strategies
• Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents

Senior Azure SQL DBA - Mandatory Skills:
• 10+ years of experience as a Senior/Expert DBA in Azure SQL environments
• Proven experience managing very large databases (40TB+)
• Strong expertise in Azure SQL PaaS performance tuning and optimization
• Deep knowledge of query plan regressions, parameter sniffing, and cardinality estimation issues
• Hands-on experience with Query Store and execution plan analysis
• Advanced T-SQL performance tuning skills
• Expertise in DTU/vCore models and Hyperscale architecture

Senior Azure SQL DBA – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
• Knowledge of Azure SQL security features
• Experience with disaster recovery and geo-replication strategies
• Understanding of database access control and security best practices
• Exposure to Dynatrace for performance monitoring

Senior Azure SQL DBA – Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position with potential for extension or conversion to full-time.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid role with 1 day in the office.
