Senior Cloud Solution Architect
Contract, Hybrid (Ottawa)
24 month initial term with 12 month option

Our client, a federal public sector organization, is seeking a Senior Cloud Solution Architect to lead solution architecture for a new back office technology program. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence approximately 12 days per month, with flexibility on that requirement over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee core technology solution architecture for a large back office system program, coordinating across cloud, container, database, integration, security, and operations teams
  • Develop, maintain, and govern the end to end Solution Architecture Document (SAD) and architecture decision records, ensuring deliverables stay current and aligned with program objectives
  • Facilitate architecture reviews, technical assessments, and risk identification, supporting governance committees and project approval processes
  • Ensure solution delivery alignment across Azure, OpenShift, SQL, IBM MQ, networking, security, and observability workstreams
  • Coordinate resolution of cross functional technical dependencies, issues, and risks across development, testing, deployment, and production milestones
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, platform services, and engineering teams to deliver secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable solutions

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in computer science or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in Solution Architecture supporting complex enterprise technology environments
  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience architecting and delivering cloud native and container based solutions using Azure, Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenShift, and/or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), spanning both server based and serverless architectures
  • Experience designing and implementing Azure IaaS infrastructure, networking, security, data protection, and workload portability solutions
  • Experience architecting highly available, resilient, and scalable multi site, multi region, and multi cloud solutions, including Azure Availability Zones, Availability Sets, Site Recovery, and Well Architected Framework principles
  • Experience applying FinOps principles, cost optimization, governance, and risk management practices
  • Experience supporting the full SDLC and resolving complex technical risks across architecture, engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Expertise in enterprise solution architecture, including architecture governance, technical assessments, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
  • Knowledge of security, networking, high availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and observability for mission critical enterprise applications

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must be eligible to obtain Reliability Status clearance (minimum 5 years verifiable personal history in Canada)
  • English required
