Senior Data Architect:
On behalf of our Consulting client, Procom is searching for a Senior Data Architect for a 6 month contract role. This position is a remote position based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Senior Data Architect - Job Description:
This role is integral to the architecture, delivery, and governance of reporting and data delivery for the client, focusing on modernizing data warehousing using Microsoft Fabric. It involves both architectural strategy and hands-on implementation, including the migration of legacy systems and the enhancement of data architecture.

Senior Data Architect - Responsibilities:
• Own and enhance the client's modernized data architecture built on Microsoft Fabric
• Lead the migration of legacy SQL Server/SSIS processes to Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Data Factory
• Design and maintain robust data ingestion pipelines for various data domains
• Architect scalable enterprise data models for multiple business operations
• Provide guidance on capacity planning, cost optimization, and architecture selection
• Collaborate with and provide technical oversight to systems integrators and other vendors

Senior Data Architect - Mandatory Skills:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture with extensive SQL Server and ETL/SSIS experience
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, and Data Factory
• Strong understanding of medallion architecture and big-data ingestion patterns
• Proven experience modernizing legacy environments into cloud-first architectures
• Strong performance optimization skills (e.g., Spark tuning, SQL optimization)
• Strong business acumen and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Senior Data Architect – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineering or Fabric certification
• Experience with Qlik Replicate, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Synapse, or Databricks
• Familiarity with data governance tools (Purview) and MDM frameworks
• Experience with Power BI, Cognos, or similar analytics tools
• Prior exposure to integrating with ERP systems such as JDE

This is a 6 month contract position.
