Senior Data Engineer:
On behalf of our utilities client, Procom is searching for a Senior Data Engineer for a 12-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Calgary office.

Senior Data Engineer - Job Description:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that enable the collection, storage, and analysis of vast amounts of data. This role involves collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to ensure data accessibility, reliability, and security.

Senior Data Engineer - Responsibilities:
• Design and develop robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to process and manage large datasets.
• Integrate data from various sources, ensuring data consistency and quality.
• Design and implement data warehousing solutions to support analytics and reporting.
• Optimize and tune data processing systems for performance and cost efficiency.
• Implement data quality checks and governance practices to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide solutions.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of data infrastructure, processes, and systems.
• Work with various teams to resolve technical design, implementation, or operational technology issues.

Senior Data Engineer - Mandatory Skills:
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with database systems such as MySQL.
• Experience in database and ETL architecture with Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
• Familiarity with ITIL service delivery framework and data governance principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Senior Data Engineer – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Relevant certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Senior Data Engineer – Assignment Length:
This is a 12-month contract position.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office required.
