Senior Data Engineer:
On behalf of our Consulting client, Procom is searching for a Senior Data Engineer for a 6 month contract-to-hire role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Oakville office.

Senior Data Engineer - Job Description:
This project involves building an internal data team and a modern data platform on Microsoft Fabric. The Senior Data Engineer will take over and extend the work initiated by a third-party partner, focusing on creating a trusted foundation for reporting, analytics, AI, and decision-making.

Senior Data Engineer - Responsibilities:
• Platform engineering: Build and run Fabric pipelines, ingestion, transformation, orchestration, the lakehouse, and data models.
• BI: Build datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and executive reports in Power BI.
• Integration: Connect SaaS and operational systems via APIs and ETL, including Salesforce and NetSuite.
• Transition and support: Take over knowledge from the partner, document the environment, and set up support processes.
• Standards: Improve performance, reliability, source control, CI/CD, and DevOps.
• Governance and quality: Validation, monitoring, master data, cataloguing, lineage, metadata, security, and compliance.
• Advanced analytics: Support forecasting, predictive modelling, ML, and AI as priorities mature.
• Stakeholders: Align definitions and requirements, and drive self-service analytics adoption.

Senior Data Engineer - Mandatory Skills:
• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development.
• Strong SQL, data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and lakehouse experience.
• Hands-on Fabric, or deep Azure (ADF/Synapse) experience.
• Enterprise-scale pipelines and integrations across multiple SaaS apps.
• Strong Power BI, including semantic models and business-facing reports.
• Python and/or R, plus source control and DevOps.
• Experience in at least one advanced analytics area: forecasting, statistics, predictive modelling, ML, or AI.

Senior Data Engineer – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Salesforce, NetSuite, CRM/ERP, or marketing-platform integrations.
• Fabric, Azure, data engineering, or Power BI certifications.
• Experience inheriting a platform from a consultancy or integrator.
• Executive, board, sales, finance, or operational reporting.
• Microsoft Purview governance experience.

This is a contract-to-permanent position.
