Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR
On behalf of our healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR for a 4-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR - Job Description:
This role involves working on a critical project, focusing on FHIR Subscription and SubscriptionTopic integration. The project aims to replace scheduled polling with subscription-driven event processing to enhance responsiveness to clinical information, referrals, reports, and status changes.

Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR - Responsibilities:
• Assess polling-based integrations and workflows, identifying events that should trigger notifications
• Define and implement FHIR SubscriptionTopic resources and subscription lifecycle components
• Design, develop, and support Java and Node.js services for event publishing and notification handling
• Develop AWS Lambda functions and queue-based integrations for asynchronous event processing
• Implement reliable processing controls, including idempotency and duplicate detection
• Develop and support React applications using SMART on FHIR
• Configure NextGen Connect (Mirth) channels for HL7 v2 workflows

Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR - Mandatory Skills:
• Advanced FHIR Subscription and SubscriptionTopic experience
• Senior-level experience with Java and Node.js services and REST APIs
• Experience with AWS Lambda and asynchronous queues
• Strong React development experience with SMART on FHIR
• Hands-on experience with NextGen Connect (Mirth) and HL7 v2 integration
• Public sector experience

Senior Full Stack Developer - Java and FHIR – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with FHIR R5 Subscription model
• Experience with AWS messaging and observability services
• Experience with infrastructure as code and automated deployment pipelines
• Experience defining versioned FHIR profiles and event schemas
• Experience with Ontario digital health standards integration

This is a 4-month contract position.
