Senior Java Backend Developer:
On behalf of our Financial Services client, Procom is searching for a Senior Java Backend Developer for a 7 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Mississauga office.

Senior Java Backend Developer - Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend Developer to join our engineering team as a Senior Individual Contributor. The role involves designing, building, and optimizing high-performance, robust, and scalable backend applications specialized in batch and real-time data processing. As a senior technical leader, you will drive the architecture and implementation of complex distributed systems.

Senior Java Backend Developer - Responsibilities:
• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems designs.
• Write high-quality, production-ready, and performant Java code leveraging advanced software engineering principles.
• Lead the technical implementation and delivery of critical, complex backend and data-processing initiatives.
• Act as the resident Subject Matter Expert in high-throughput data processing and JVM performance tuning.
• Diagnose, profile, and resolve complex performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and concurrency issues.
• Champion code quality through Test-Driven Development, comprehensive unit/integration testing, and rigid code review standards.
• Provide technical mentorship and architectural guidance to other engineers on the team.

Senior Java Backend Developer - Mandatory Skills:
• 8+ years of professional experience in application development or systems analysis, with a heavy emphasis on Java-based backend architectures.
• Deep, expert-level understanding of Core Java, including advanced multithreading and concurrency models.
• Extensive hands-on experience with distributed data processing systems and real-time streaming architectures.
• Strong experience with the Spring Ecosystem and ORM frameworks.
• Proficiency in designing schemas and writing optimized queries for both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Comprehensive understanding of distributed system design patterns and API design.
• Practical experience with containerization, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code principles.

Senior Java Backend Developer – Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience in financial services, banking technology, or large-scale enterprise transaction systems.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Experience with managed database and container services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Senior Java Backend Developer – Assignment Length:
This is a 7 month contract position.
