Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert:
On behalf of our client, Procom is searching for a Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert for a contract role. This position is a remote position working MST hours with our Calgary-based client.

Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert - Job Description:
The project involves leading complex Microsoft 365 tenant migration, integration, and stabilization activities. The focus is on ensuring technical coherence across identity, collaboration, messaging, and compliance services during the migration process.

Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert - Responsibilities:

• Provide end-to-end technical leadership across M365 workstreams and maintain alignment between approved architecture, detailed implementation plans, migration waves, cutover runbooks, rollback procedures, and operational support.
• Identify cross-workload dependencies involving identities, domains, licensing, security controls, DNS, certificates, mail flow, device state, applications, permissions, data gateways, and third-party services.
• Lead or support discovery, inventory, object matching, data mapping, remediation planning, environment preparation, pilot migrations, production migrations, and post-migration validation.
• Define practical technical acceptance criteria and test scripts; coordinate alpha, pilot, early-adopter, batch, and cutover testing; document defects and incorporate lessons learned.
• Review technical changes for CAB/RAB readiness, including implementation steps, dependencies, outage impacts, validation, monitoring, rollback, and resourcing.
• Provide hands-on Tier 3 troubleshooting during migration and hypercare, using logs, reports, service health, configuration analysis, and platform diagnostics to isolate root cause and restore service.
• Create and maintain technical artifacts such as configuration workbooks, object inventories, decision records, test evidence, cutover checklists, operational procedures, known-error records, and knowledge articles.
• Escalate product defects and complex issues to Microsoft or tool vendors and manage technical follow-through to resolution.

Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert - Mandatory Skills:

• Advanced administration and migration knowledge across multiple Microsoft 365 workloads, with recognized depth in at least three of the following: Entra ID, Exchange Online/Server, SharePoint Online/OneDrive, or Purview.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex tenant-to-tenant migrations or enterprise consolidations involving phased pilots, migration waves, domain moves, coexistence, production cutovers, and hypercare.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and governance concepts, including least privilege, MFA, Conditional Access, PIM, RBAC, app registrations, enterprise applications, sensitivity labels, retention, and data access controls.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, Entra Connect, DNS, SMTP, certificates, firewalls, authentication protocols, and hybrid dependencies.
• Hands-on experience with Quest On Demand Migration and/or ShareGate. Experience with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
• Ability to interpret service limits, licensing requirements, migration-tool constraints, workload interdependencies, and Microsoft roadmap implications.

Senior Microsoft 365 Workloads Subject Matter Expert – Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Relevant Microsoft certifications are preferred, such as Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Messaging Administrator Associate, Endpoint Administrator Associate, Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate, Power Platform or Fabric certifications.
• Experience working in regulated, utility, energy, financial, or other high-availability enterprise environments is an asset.
