Job Description
BMO is currently sourcing for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager. This is a contract role; please confirm the work arrangement and location details.
Role Overview:
The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager works closely with stakeholders to develop and implement innovative sourcing and demand management strategies. The role supports business and cost management objectives while minimizing risks associated with supplier spend. It involves managing sourcing category initiatives end-to-end, conducting supplier negotiations, and driving strategic sourcing projects to deliver value and savings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing and demand management strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups and influence negotiations to achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage sourcing projects throughout their lifecycle, including competitive events and contract negotiations.
- Conduct market assessments and supplier evaluations to identify preferred suppliers and mitigate risks.
- Lead change management programs related to sourcing initiatives, including planning and stakeholder management.
- Prepare project plans, reports, and dashboards to keep stakeholders informed of progress and performance.
- Apply procurement policies and disciplined methodologies to sourcing activities and supplier engagements.
Must-Have Skills:
- 5-7 years of strategic sourcing, supply chain, or procurement experience with a related post-secondary degree or equivalent.
- Experience in Tech Infrastructure Sourcing, specifically hardware, software, and support.
- Familiarity with suppliers such as IBM, Microsoft, Bell, Oracle, Broadcom, and other telecom providers.
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing/procurement processes, procedures, controls, and relevant risk and regulatory requirements.
- Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in Excel and spreadsheet analysis.
- Experience with sourcing and procurement systems and applications.
- Understanding of financial services or technology industry sourcing.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Knowledge of business analysis and project delivery practices across the project lifecycle.
- Experience in compiling and synthesizing research to draw actionable insights.
- Familiarity with outsourcing and supplier risk management frameworks.
- Experience in developing category management frameworks and sourcing strategies.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven ability to lead multiple sourcing programs and resolve conflicting priorities effectively.
- Experience driving innovation and value creation through supplier engagement and market-leading procurement practices.
- Strong capability to communicate key messages and recommendations to all managerial levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in change management related to sourcing and procurement initiatives.
