Senior Supplier Relationship Manager

Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a Senior Supplier Relationship Manager. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (1 day in office per week with additional in-office days during training).

Role Overview:

The Senior Supplier Relationship Manager will support a new portfolio of supplier-managed business to handle increased front-office volume. The role involves overseeing vendor negotiations, contract execution, and ongoing relationship management to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency. This position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to align priorities and optimize partnership outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups.
• Participate as a subject matter expert in vendor arrangements and business processes.
• Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives.
• Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
• Develop and manage vendor management programs and strategic plans.
• Prepare financial reconciliations, budgets, and quarterly management reports.
• Manage supplier contracts and oversee invoice and billing activities.
• Validate and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans for suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues.
• Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.

Must-Have Skills:

• Expert verbal and written communication skills.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in vendor management.
• Deep knowledge and technical proficiency in supporting vendor programs.
• Strong presentation, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, influence, and data-driven decision-making skills.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Postsecondary education, especially relevant fields.
• Previous financial institution experience, particularly with BMO.
• Experience with Coupa procurement software.
• Familiarity with Copilot or other AI tools.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience managing a portfolio of suppliers within a large organization.
• Ability to work independently and handle non-routine situations.
• Proven track record in negotiating and renewing service agreements.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and compliance standards.
