Software Testing Specialist/Senior Python Test Automation Developer Hybrid work (4 days on-site Ottawa/ 1 day remote)

1 year contract with possibility of extension

Procom is seeking an experienced Software Testing Specialist (Senior Automation Developer) for a long-term contract with a leading organization. This role is ideal for an experienced automation professional with a strong background in Python, software verification, embedded systems, and test automation who is passionate about delivering high-quality software for next-generation automotive technologies.

Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and executing automated testing solutions for complex embedded software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of automated test strategies for software verification.
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test libraries and scripts.
• Develop scalable automation frameworks that support evolving verification requirements.
• Create comprehensive test coverage for complex software applications.
• Utilize test management tools for planning, execution, monitoring, metrics, and reporting.
• Create, track, and manage software defects using defect management tools.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote software craftsmanship, quality standards, and secure development practices.
• Mentor team members on automation tools, testing strategies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers within Agile development environments.
• Support verification activities across multiple integration and validation levels.
• Apply industry-recognized Software Quality Assurance standards including ASPICE, ISTQB, ASAM, and INCOSE.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion.

Experience

• 8+ years of professional experience in software verification, validation, and test automation.
• 5+ years designing and implementing automated testing strategies.
• Advanced experience developing automated testing frameworks.
• Strong experience with Python programming and Object-Oriented Programming.
• Experience working with embedded software systems.
• Proven experience working in Agile development environments.
• Ability to work onsite four days per week.
