Job Description
Our client is seeking a Special Hazards Technician to join their growing team and help provide service, maintenance, and installations to an expanding commercial customer base. This position is based out of the Williston, Vermont district office.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, install, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of clean agent systems in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements
- Read clean agent data sheets, system manuals, and blueprints as required
- Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries and property damage
- Meet daily and weekly service and productivity goals
- Complete administrative duties, including service acknowledgements, NFPA Record of Completion documents, and other supporting documentation
Systems experience should include:
- CO2, high pressure
- Chemical agents: FM-200, Ecaro, Novec
- Inert agents: Inergen, ProInert2, Natura
- Addressable releasing panels
- VESDA
- Fike, Kidde, Ansul, Janus, FireTrace
Qualifications:
- Any licensing and certification required by national, state, and local codes
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of related experience in the fire protection industry
- NICET certification or equivalent training from manufacturers or institutions
- Working knowledge of NFPA 12, 72, and 2001
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics, and operational/product manuals
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Able to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 100 lbs
- Proficiency with PCs, including working knowledge of MS Excel and Word, plus iPhone/iPad apps
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 20 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements
- Willingness to travel out of town, including overnight stays
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong work ethic and professional appearance
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Self-starter who can work with little to no supervision
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes
- Ability to follow and implement safety guidelines and procedures at all times
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements
