Senior Network Security Architect

On behalf of our client, Procom is searching for a Senior Network Security Architect for a 12-month contract role. This is a remote position.

Senior Network Security Architect - Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Network Security Architect to define and mature their enterprise network security architecture, with a focus on microsegmentation, security policy design, and Zero Trust principles. This role develops an enterprise segmentation strategy across data center, virtualized, and public cloud environments, providing technical leadership and architectural guidance to the engineering teams who implement it. The focus is architecture, design, governance, and roadmap development rather than day-to-day operational support or hands-on implementation.

Senior Network Security Architect - Responsibilities:

• Develop a multi-year segmentation roadmap aligned to Zero Trust objectives
• Define enterprise security zones, trust boundaries, and future-state reference architectures
• Define enterprise network security policy standards, classification models, and policy lifecycle processes
• Design workload microsegmentation models using VMware NSX/vDefend, including east-west traffic controls
• Define Azure segmentation architecture, security zoning, and cloud network security guardrails
• Establish hybrid connectivity security requirements and align data center and cloud security controls
• Create architecture standards and design authority documentation, and facilitate architecture reviews and design workshops
• Assess existing firewall policies and segmentation controls, document the current state and gaps, and recommend prioritized remediation
• Produce executive-level recommendations and decision documents

Senior Network Security Architect - Mandatory Skills:

• 10+ years in network security architecture, network architecture, or cybersecurity architecture
• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise segmentation strategies
• Proven experience developing security policy frameworks and governance models
• Experience designing large-scale hybrid cloud and data center security architectures
• Deep understanding of microsegmentation and strong knowledge of Zero Trust and east-west traffic security models
• Experience designing architectures with Palo Alto Networks NGFWs
• Experience with VMware NSX and/or Broadcom vDefend
• Experience with Microsoft Azure networking and security services
• Security zoning, trust boundary definition, reference architecture creation, risk assessment, and threat modeling
• Strong documentation skills: executive presentations, architecture decision records, standards, and roadmaps

Senior Network Security Architect - Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Azure Landing Zone security architecture and Azure Virtual WAN experience
• Identity-based segmentation, SDN, and security automation and policy orchestration
• Knowledge of service mesh, workload identity, container security, and Kubernetes networking
• Certifications such as SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP, CCDE, CCIE Security, VMware VCAP-NV, Palo Alto PCNSC, or Azure Security
• Airline, transportation, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated industry experience
• Large enterprise environments supporting both operational technology and traditional IT
