SRE Dynatrace Specialist

Job Description

BMO is currently sourcing for a SRE Dynatrace Specialist. This is a hybrid contract role in Toronto (2 days in office per month).

Role Overview:

This role supports the Site Reliability Engineering function with a focus on Dynatrace to ensure the reliability, performance, and observability of large-scale distributed systems. The specialist will work closely with application owners, developers, and infrastructure teams to monitor and improve application health and performance, contributing to critical business application stability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Orchestrate all Dynatrace phases including infrastructure, synthetic monitoring, real user monitoring, OS, database, and incident management.
• Collaborate with application owners, developers, infrastructure, and support teams to enhance system reliability.
• Provide recommendations to improve application performance and reliability.
• Install, configure, and upgrade Dynatrace components and manage tenants, environments, and user access.
• Monitor application health, availability, and performance metrics.
• Track end-to-end transactions across distributed systems to ensure performance targets are met.
• Ensure critical business applications meet defined performance objectives and service level agreements.

Must-Have Skills:

• 3+ years of experience with Dynatrace.
• Strong familiarity with Dynatrace integration with ServiceNow.
• Experience leveraging Dynatrace Davis AI to its full potential.
• Knowledge of Dynatrace SRG, workflows, defining guardians, objectives, and integration with JIRA and ServiceNow.
• Experience integrating SRG into deployment pipelines for go/no-go decisions.
• Familiarity with Dynatrace WCCS framework (Gen-3 Dashboards) for end-to-end observability.
• Strong understanding of SRE golden signals and setting alerts/thresholds per SLO/SLI/SLA.
• Proficiency with Dynatrace DQL.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Dynatrace certifications.
• Background in software development or platform engineering.
• Experience working in large enterprise environments.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working in a Site Reliability Engineering role focused on observability and monitoring.
• Proven ability to manage and optimize Dynatrace environments in complex distributed systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise-scale deployment pipelines and automation.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating across multiple technical teams to improve system reliability.
